Food Drive
On Saturday, we bused to Visitacion Valley Middle School to make care packages with some high school students to give away to the homeless and underprivileged. We prepared some sandwiches and snacks in an assembly line and gave them away around the civic center. I felt happy to give back to the community, but also heartbroken by sympathizing for them. I wish to practice compassion more often and hopefully make a difference in people’s lives.

Saturday November 16, 9am - 2pm, in the Visitacian Valley
"We all met up with everyone for the event, and headed down to the school for the food drive. From there we were briefed on what to expect throughout the event from the coordinator for the ROCK program. Pretty much the coordinator explained to us that this program mainly gave kids and young adults a place to develop their own community image as a model for future patrons that are coming into this after school program. All the volunteers then headed to where they had the food drive and we made lunch packs for the homeless. Sandwiches, chips & crackers, juice, and even toiletries were put into these wellness bags that we then distributed to the less fortunate over at the civic center. There were a lot of emotions that were not spoken out, because it's something we all needed to be aware of. Don't be taking things for granted, appreciate what you have, help develop and foster these types of mindset so that the future generations and onward can follow through as well." -Kevin Te |

Sunday Streets
We worked as cross guards on a specific street crossing. We would enforce the traffic signals to help pedestrians safely cross the road. For example, we would hold up our STOP signs up if the traffic signal was red and put down our STOP signs if the light turned green.

Quad DCM
|
Quad DCM is a large scale event hosted by the Northern Divisions of the Cal-Nev-Ha District of Circle K International to promote service, leadership, fellowship and unity during the summer. To start off we had a large service project hosted by Project Peace East Bay at 4 different elementary schools in Oakland. On site we had been assigned various tasks to prepare the schools for the start of the school year. After the initial service ended at 12:00pm there was a 1 hour break for members to get lunch or to purchase the pizzas we provided. When everyone had regrouped at Union Point Park we hosted our 4 separate Divisional Council Meetings to update the clubs on how each Division was going. And lastly we had 2 activities to close the day off in order to promote communication and teamwork throughout the various Northern California/Nevada schools.

Berkeley DCM
The July DSP (Divisional Service Project) and DCM (Divisional Council Meeting) was a fun event at Tilden Little Farm in Berkeley, CA. Volunteers did trail cleanup and gardening so that the farm can be enjoyed by all. After, we went to the park right next to the farm where we had a picnic and received updates from other clubs within the Golden Gate Division.
